I’ve been listening all day to the
incomparable Judith Owen’s new album Mopping Up
Karma due to be released in June. As
with all of J’s work it’s personal, ironic, but for me most importantly, so
catchy, so singable, so engaging, I found myself whistling a bit from one of
the tracks as I walked through my soulless building’s soulless parking garage
to pick up the laundry (my dry cleaning, however, has soul). You can hear excerpts of a couple of tracks
on her main page. And you should.
My favorite of her albums still has to be 12 Arrows but how can you have a favorite when they’re all so good? Well, you just have try a little harder, that’s how.
You should snag Mopping Up Karma when it comes out and you should definitely go see
Judith in person. Just do as you’re told. It’ll be easier for everyone.
